I previously spoke about this film when the trailer was released a while back, but I’m pretty thrilled by the sweet folky soundtrack, which can be streamed here.
The film is loosely based on the stories and scenes of Dave Von Ronk in the New York folk scene before Dylan and co. put Greenwich Village on the map. According to the film’s official website, the story is not about Von Ronk, but uses some of his music and some stories and imagery from his book The Mayor of MacDougal Street.
Seems like all of the actors sang their parts in the film, which is a relief. Leadwoman Carey Mulligan’s hubby even had a big role in film’s music production.
Hey, remember this Cohen brothers gem?
