Gush: Bourdain

I love Bourdain. He’s a bit of a dick, but he’s a total comic. See a recent interview Bon Appétit had with him:

Gush: ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ by Wes Anderson

Meet my favourite Wes Anderson film:

budThe Grand Budapest Hotel features all of the usual shenanigans that every other Wes Anderson film never forgets to include, but for this film, I particularly enjoyed the cast. It featured a number of people in films that I have enjoyed for the last year. Only the most observant eye would have seen, including Blue is the Warmest Colour’s Lea Seydoux and Inside Llewyn Davis’ Oscar Isaac, who I swear had a split second moment in the film. Sadly, I can’t find a screen shot of it.

Wes Anderson even created a instructional video on how to make the wonky Dr Seuss-like treats featured in the film:

Hop Addict Ale

Watch out Mill St. Tankhouse, there’s a new hoppy ale in town. The name of this bad boy is Hop Addict, hailing from Pickering, Ontario.

This brew has got some serious push from the likes of Elle magazine, where I saw a plug for the stuff in the magazine’s feature on the Film Festival.

I gotta say – I’m by no means a beer connoisseur, but I really dig this new beverage. There’s nothing more lovely than an amber beer.

Well, maybe Okanagan 1516 Bavarian Lager. Seems a lot of people are giving this drink some flak for being too light. As much as I adore the Okanagan Spring Ale, I found myself completely refreshed drinking the 1516 the other night. Summer’s end is near, but beer is in full supply.

Try Hop Addict at Magpie (831 Dundas Street West), where no magnificent pies will be had:
